Walk 8 - Places out of time

This last walk offers an original itinerari off the beaten tracks towards some extraordinary places. Leave Cascia heading towards Castel San Giovanni and Chiavano. After the hill, you will discover beautiful landscapesa nd mountain pasture lands at 1000 m above sea level. In Villa San Silvestro you can visit th eruins of an ancient temple that now form the base of a beautiful christian church.

There are numerous “memorial places” on this path, bearing the signs of passing times. The villages of Chiavano, Civita and Castel Santa Maria, are perfect examples. They were severely damaged in the 1979 earthquake and rebuilt in a style that does not resemele much of the ancient towns urban genius.
